Bullying Figures All Wrong - Something Smells!

We've sure heard a lot about bullying in the last few years, in fact, it's getting a little out of control it's so pervasive. But is bullying any worse than when we were in school? No, and I submit to you that it is much less today than it was back then? So, why is everyone so worried about it, we made it through, we all had to deal with it.

Worse, no one can agree on the bullying statistics, and psychologists and researchers in this venue are using a piling on strategy. In one UCLA study it showed that the number of kids bullied was about 14% and nearly half of the boys bullied turned out to be bullies themselves.

Still, these are pretty small statistics right, 14% is nothing compared to when we were in school, but now these studies are including all sorts of other things, like verbal abuse, teasing, sexual comments, etc. So, with all this figured in;

"According to a 2004 KidsHealth KidsPoll, 86% of more than 1,200 9- to 13-year-old boys and girls polled said they've seen someone else being bullied, 48% said they've been bullied, and 42% admitted to bullying other kids at least once in a while."

And so, we are suppose to believe a poll that was taken by kids after they were told that bullying included all these other things. Not to mention that the suggestive issues are prevalent when surveying kids. Back when we were in school, if you were bullied you fought back, it makes you tough, it's part of growing up, hey, it's a tough world out there right? Wrong according to psychologists, in fact;

The national KidsHealth KidsPoll showed that ; "46% of the children surveyed who said they've been bullied respond by fighting back, a solution that can just make things worse. Boys in the poll were more likely to say they would fight back than girls (53% of boys vs. 38% of girls), whereas girls were more likely to say they would talk to an adult than boys (32% of girls vs. 19% of boys)."

There sure appears to be a whole lot of discrepancy on what bullying is, what the stats are, how serious it is or isn't, and who has the reality pinned down here. I am beginning to question this whole thing as nothing more than another socialist agenda. Think on this, as I am very concerned here.
